Art Test 2016

Now that Bugsnax is out, I figured I'd share my art test I did for Young Horses back in 2016!

Apple Dwelling by Megan Varde on Sketchfab

This was before I really understood the world of Bugsnax, so I incorporated food a lot more than makes sense now. But I still think it was a cute little project and it's silly to look back on it after making a much different Snaxburg.

BUGSNAX ANNOUNCEMENT!

The game I've been working on with Young Horses for 4 years has been announced! Very excited to finally share more about Bugsnax.

I will eventually be posting more art from the game here, on my new ArtStation profile (empty for now), and on Twitter in the future. I did mostly environment and prop art, with some 2D UI icons and such sprinkled around.

Train Jam 2018

It's about time I made a post about my first game jam!

Back in March I participated in Train Jam, a 52 hour game jam on a train from Chicago to San Francisco right before GDC.

I got to work with a team of experienced game jammers and friends to create Banana Foolishness! A game about controlling different awkwardly shaped objects around a Marble Madness-esque landscape faster than another player. I modeled and textured most of the objects and made the 'dizzy' animation after falling off. I also made the logo to look similar to Marble Madness.

You can download the game HERE and see other Train Jam 2018 entries at itch.io!

3D Printing

During my last semester at school I decided to finally try using the 3D printer that was available to me while I was there.

My first attempt was my thesis character that I posed in Maya and then used Zbrush to merge everything together on a stand. Unfortunately the ears could not print correctly but I was told maybe if I printed the arms separately then the ears could print right. I haven't tried that or anything else to fix it yet.

My second print was way simpler with just a really low poly crystal group:

I wanted to do more low poly pieces so I did a dog next:

I hope to try more printing in the future!
