Racing Stunts and Map
The main stunts/obstacles in my level are a big jump through open cargo doors and a conveyor belt with various boxes on it the players will have to maneuver around. Other landmarks in the level are a tunnel and a large gate that pushes its bars out onto the track.
There is also a very steep slope just before the big jump stunt, inspired by the hills in this short clip from the movie Bullitt.

The jump stunt is referenced from loading dock levelers:
This stunt differs from the regular jump ramps elsewhere in the level by launching the player higher into the air to make for a much bigger jump. After flying through a pair of open cargo doors into another segment of the station, the player lands on a set of conveyor belts carrying boxes that will need to be swerved around.
Because this station is traveling by so many asteroids, after the first lap the player will be able to see them through the windows and (hopefully) there will be a noticeable tremor from impact causing more packages to fall into the track and steam bursting through the machinery. After the second lap there will be more impacts, causing the alarms to go off, conveyors speed up, and the gate bars open and close on the track.
The player will be directed to stay on the right track with the use of railings, walls, accent lights, and arrows (possibly spray painted by the vagabonds).
The concept statement for this level is "survive the impact".

Racing Level Theme
My class chose the theme "space station" for our racing level. I want my station to be kind of similar to an aircraft loading dock, where space shuttles/rockets/ships stop temporarily to load and unload their cargo.
Even though at this point I think most of my level will be indoors, the player will know they are in space because there will be windows that show stars and such. The inside will be very mechanical and large to suggest spacecrafts are involved.
The time of day does not matter too much because it is in outer space, but the inside will be pretty dim with a few futuristic neon lights accenting the track.
The terrain will be mostly smooth, driving over warehouse floors and machinery. Maybe even a conveyor belt integrated into part of the track.
The color scheme would be mostly warm dull colors with brighter yellow and orange accents.

This loading dock has been abandoned for quite awhile now, due to an accident that resulted in its removal from orbit around the rest of the space station. It has been drifting towards an asteroid belt deep in space, occasionally getting pummeled by the smaller rocks in the outer layer of the belt. Although it has been abandoned, there are still working lights and leftover materials/cargo boxes and it has become a popular hangout for vagabonds and racers.
