Racing HUD

I looked at HUDs from other racing games and most (if not all) of them show the current lap number, racing time, and some sort of map showing the current location and/or other player's location. Since it looks like we won't have multiplayer for our levels, my HUD will just have the racing time, lap numbers, and speed.

I was having trouble finding photos of speedometers from the exact car I modeled (1966 Fiat 124), but I found other Fiat models that had radial speedometers. However since we can't do radial, I am thinking that my car speed will be shown vertically. To me it feels better to see your speed literally go up (increase) than go from left to right like it is right now in my level.

I would prefer it if my speedometer design (and HUD in general) went with my space station theme rather than being true to the car I made. It would also be cool to have bars lighting up for increased speed instead of a moving needle. This is shown in a very simple blueprint I made for now:
